Namibian super flyweight boxer Abmerk Shindjuu’s chances of capturing the coveted WBO Africa Super Flyweight title were on Friday ruined after he lost on points against a highly-determined Athenkosi Dumezweni from South Africa.

In the fight staged in East London, South Africa, Shindjuu went up against Dumezweni for the vacant WBO Africa Super Flyweight title, but the somewhat aging Namibian pugilist failed to make his presence felt, as the South African appeared always to be a step ahead in almost all departments.

Through great speed and overall dominance, Dumezweni’s hard work eventually proved enough for him to win the fight on points.
Promoter Nestor Tobias yesterday said it was sad news, but that it’s all part of boxing. “He is a fighter and the loss is just another setback. We will go back to the drawing board and keep working hard and plan as to what is the way forward.”
