Namibian super flyweight boxer Abmerk Shindjuu has been thrown another lifeline and will climb into the ring to square off against South African opponent Athenkosi Dumezweni for the vacant WBO Africa Super Flyweight title in East London, South Africa on July 29.
The Namibian goes into the bout with a patchy record of 17 wins, 6 defeats and 2 draws, but the hard-punching Shindjuu remains confident, following his TKO win in his last fight against Robert Kachiza.
His opponent Dumezweni is a rookie in the real sense of the word, coming into the fight with a résumé of 5 victories and one loss from seven bouts in the paid ranks.
The Eastern Cape is well documented as the hub of South African boxing and to walk away with an easy win over there is generally believed to be an almost foregone conclusion, but Shindjuu’s handler Nestor Sunshine Tobias, is having none of that.
“We’re fully aware of the intimidating environment and fierce crowd, but Shindjuu is ready and prepared for the fight and I’m sure he will give his all,” boasts Tobias, the mastermind behind Namibia’s leading boxing stable, the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy.
