WINDHOEK– The 2012 winner of the National Theatre of Namibia’s Last Band Standing, Shishani, features tonight with friends at the Franco-Namibia Cultural Centre (FNCC)’s Acoustic Friday series presenting a versatile potpourri of music and poetry.
This time around new collaborations will emerge featuring Jan Mohr Secondary School Choir conducted by Vernon Sawyers, Mbira artist Onai Mutizwa as well as introducing the brand new all female band known as The Puppies. Visual artist, Foibe Amundaba will be part of the show, together with multi instrumentalist, Tapz Munya, and Shambo / cross-over artist, Naxa Nakale. Using her performances to raise awareness for poverty alleviation, environmental issues and social conscience, Shishani mesmerises audiences with her soulful voice, message and stage presence. She is also known for wonderful ability to bring people together and advocate social change.
Previous Shishani and friends shows have included renowned musicians and poets from the Windhoek scene with whom she has performed various times. The music career of the Netherlands- based singer kick started in 2011 in Namibia. Her debut album is expected to be released this December.
