WINDHOEK – A man who informed the court he is supposed to box at the Windhoek Country Club this Wednesday made a first appearance on a charge of theft in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tuvoye Nuule yesterday.
It is alleged by the State that 29-year-old Matheus Shikongo stole three pairs of shoes at Edgars Stores in Wernhil Park valued at N$2 849.85, the lawful property of Edgars.
Shikongo was not asked to plead and informed the court that he would conduct his own defence. On a question from Nuule whether he could afford bail, Shikongo said that he makes a living out of boxing and could only afford bail of N$800.
According to Shikongo he makes around N$1 500 per month from boxing. He was granted bail of N$800 and warned to appear in court on the next court date of January 23 next year.
