Police in Oshana Region are seeking the public’s help in tracing the person believed to have killed and dumped an approximately two-month old baby girl.

According to Oshana police spokesperson Warrant Officer Thomas Aiyambo, the baby was dumped at the Etango shopping complex in Oshakati between the late hours of Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday.

“The bag containing the baby’s corpse was discovered by a security guard who alerted the police on Sunday. When we came to the scene, we discovered five baby blankets, an overall and a T-shirt, which we believe might have belonged to the dumped baby,” Aiyambo informed New Era.

The lifeless body of the baby was wrapped in a blue overall.

The Oshana police are thus urging members of public that may have noticed someone dumping a bag at Etango, or families who have noticed that a relative who had a baby does not have it anymore, to come forward with such information.

The police are also seeking assistance from fathers who bought any of the items or recognise the items in the photos to come forward and report the mother. Anyone with information should contact the following police emergency numbers: 081-3630666, 081-3873555 or 081-4029009.
