Shining, new shopping malls have started appearing on the Windhoek skyline with almost monotonous regularity, leading some residents to start asking when is enough going to be enough?

The unending proliferation of new shopping malls has also led some to question whether the Windhoek market, with its limited population, can sustain so many high-end shopping centres.

Oryx Properties recently extended its Maerua Park Shopping Mall to possibly more than double its capacity at massive expense.

This forced Ohlthaver & List Group is to expand its Wernhil Park complex to keep up with the Joneses, again at enormous cost.

There is also Gustav Voigt Centre, Mutual Plaza as well as the fairly new Town Square.
