ALTHOUGH one cannot turn a blind eye to the statistics on how many women were killed or assaulted especially during the year 2014, incidents did occur whereby a man was also a victim of gender-based violence. In a recent court case the court pronounced itself that although women are normally assaulted by men, the courts also have the duty to protect men when the situation is reversed.
These men victims of gender-based violence are most of the time not willing to come out and share their feelings with the world. One of the main reasons for this is that men believe ‘big boys never cry over small things’. It is that inborn sense of pride that makes some men hide in their own little, secret dark corners and keep on enduring this sort of gender-based violence?
The best and most effective weapon a woman can use on her man/boyfriend is by manipulating him and playing games with his mind.
Just for the sake of love men tend to allow women to get away with all sorts of emotional abuse. It hurts a lot to see how these poor men are crawling back deeper and deeper into their shells and labeled at the end of the day as cowards and puppets. Is this not perhaps one of the most unknown reasons why men sometimes retaliate when they cannot keep it up anymore and reverse the favour to their counterparts?
It is about high time that men victims stand up for their rights (they are anyway only entitled to fifty percent in today’s society) and speak their minds to the masses to be heard.
Maybe people should start to seeing this issue of gender-based violence from a reverse angle and rather support men who are victims of emotional abuse inflicted on them by women.
Hopefully this call will motivate our brothers, who are victims, outside there to rather walk out of an abusive relationship and start from fresh as there are more than enough fish in the sea!
Till next time. Eewa!
