WINDHOEK – The 3rd tournament of the popular PTA Tennis Series resumed last weekend after a month-long break with the players grilling each other from Friday afternoon through Saturday at the Windhoek High School (WHS) courts.

In the mini category, Maluci Namwandi claimed her first victory of the season after finishing 2nd and 3rd in the opening tournaments. The win moved Namwandi into 1st spot in the rankings ahead of Stefan Wietz, who ended 2nd with Sakaria Kamukmanyama adrift in 3rd place.

Faith Kahuure caused an upset when she claimed 1st place in the midi category, bringing to an end the usual two-horse battle between Adam Diggle and Beyonce Boois in the opening tournaments. Kahuure had other ideas leaving Boois and Diggle to pick up the pieces for 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

In other action Randel Kavandje claimed his 3rd win in a row in the beginner’s division with Delicia Dirkse and Isaben Gowases tailing in that order. In the advanced category, Ronaldo Uirab won ahead of Elias Shikongo and Yed Malan.

All participants collected points for the PTA Tennis Ranking, while players accumulate ranking points on a 12-month rolling basis throughout the series with great prizes at stake for the overall winners at the end of the year.
