WINDHOEK – With the second edition of the Skorpion Zinc U/17 Cup on the horizon, the Namibia Football Association (NFA) is to launch the final draw at Football House in Katutura on Thursday.
NFA Head of Competitions, Titus Kunamuene, says only players that were born on or after 01 January 1998 are eligible for the youth tourney and requested all regions to submit a provisional list of 30 players by 4 August and the final list of 20 players before 14 August.
“For the time being, we have 13 regions but still have to address the issue of Kavango since the region has been divided into two political regions,” Kunamuene explained.
Khomas are defending champions after seeing off Erongo 2-1 in the final at Keetmanshoop last year with Dino Roman Engelbrecht and Jandjamuje Maharero netting a goal apiece, while Amaru van Neel was on target for Erongo.
Last year, the NFA teamed up with mining giant Skorpion Zinc to unveil a sponsorship deal worth N$1,3 million for a period of three years.
