Ten of the recently established small and medium enterprises in Zambezi Region received equipment from the Zambezi Regional Council last week.
The regional council, through its development programme, procured the equipment valued at N$500 000 with the assistance of the Namsov Community Trust, which belongs to the Walvis Bay fishing company Namsov, a subsidiary of Bidvest Namibia.
“The equipment and supplies donation is only as valuable as the commitment we all make to taking responsibility for our actions and attitudes to promote self-sustained projects,” said Zambezi Regional Governor Lawrence Sampofu.
The governor also encouraged recipients to use the materials to plough back in their respective communities and “be a torch that will light up and ignite the fire so that other people can learn and follow suit”.
“Empowering the community is one of my wishes and I will continue working towards realizing my dream of a region that will be able to feed the whole country,” emphasised Sampofu. Among others, those who received equipment are SMEs engaged in wood carving, poultry and vegetable farming.
