WINDHOEK- Immanuel Nghidipa, 24, was granted bail of N$5 000 on Monday in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court for attempting to rape another man on 28 June this year.
The law forbids naming the rape/sodomy victim.
The charge sheet indicates that near Biotech Library in Windhoek, where the two are believed to be security guards, Nghidipa “wrongfully, unlawfully, intentionally committed or continued to commit a sexual act with the victim by pulling his trousers down whilst the victim slept and is therefore guilty of the offence of attempted rape.”
Nghidipa’s legal rights were explained to him and he indicated he would conduct his own defence.
Magistrate John Sindano granted him bail and as part of his bail conditions he has to report to the Windhoek Police Station on Mondays and Fridays between 08h00 and 17h00 and should stay away from the victim.
The matter was remanded to 6 August.
