RUNDU – A member of the Namibian Defence Force stationed at Rundu military base committed suicide in the Rundu intermediate hospital’s male ward on Tuesday.
The deceased was discovered by a nurse at the hospital. “The death was recorded at Rundu Police Station in the early hours of this (Tuesday) morning. The incident happened on Tuesday at 05h00’’ said the Kavango East police acting regional commander, Eino Nambahu.
The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Kanhuku Isai.
“His body was discovered by nurses on duty after a long wait for his return from the toilet, as he informed the nurses when he went there.
The nurses did not observe him carrying anything when he went to the toilet,’’ Nambahu said. Isai was admitted at the hospital on Saturday, and was receiving medical attention. According to the police, no suicide note was left behind. “His next of kin have been informed of his death, and police investigations are continuing,’’ Nambahu noted.
