WINDHOEK – Prime Minister Dr Hage Geingob last Thursday joined Zambians at the special memorial service held in remembrance of the late Zambian president Michael Sata at St Mary’s Cathedral in Windhoek.

In attendance were various members of the diplomatic fraternity and leaders of various political parties, as well as a big group of Zambian nationals residing in Namibia. The service was conducted by Father Richard.

President Hifikepunye Pohamba and First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba will join other African heads of state to attend the state funeral of Sata at Embassy Park after the final memorial at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Among the other African leaders that will attend Sata’s burial are Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe, DRC leader Joseph Kabila, Rwanda’s Paul Kagame, Malawi’s Peter Mutharika, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta and the vice-president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa

Sata was a Zambian politician who was the fifth president of Zambia, from September 23 2011 until his death on October 28 2014. A social democrat, he led the Patriotic Front (PF) a major political party in Zambia.
