WINDHOEK-Standard Bank Namibia has donated N$120,000 in support of the University of Namibia (Unam)’s Visual & Performing Arts  students for the 11th consecutive year.

The sponsorship handover also coincided with the launch of promoting the students artworks on Standard Bank Namibia’s social media platforms, Facebook and Twitter. Standard Bank Namibia’s Public Relations and Communications Manager, Surihe Gaomas-Guchu, says the bank is proud to be associated with programmes that empower young people in the field of arts.  “Standard Bank Namibia is

a firm believer of ‘education’ and has a responsibility as a good corporate citizen to contribute to skills development.  It is in that spirit that Standard Bank is proudly sponsoring the art students of 2014.  The bursaries will be spread across a wider spectrum to include Music, Drama and Visual Arts students,” says Gaomas-Guchu.

By adding more value to the sponsorship, Standard Bank Namibia also plans to enrich the lives of the art students by promoting short profiles of the students’ art pieces on the bank’s social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter and blogs pages as a run-up to the final student art exhibition in November.
