Our Star of the Week is golden girl Johnanna Benson who last Saturday surprised all and sundry at the fully-packed Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, where she delivered a blistering performance to once again scoop gold in the women’s T37 400-metres race at the London Athletics Grand Prix.
Benson, Namibia’s only Paralympic gold and silver medalist, ran an astonishing time of one minute, eights seconds (1.08.51 seconds) to shake off her competitors in the 400-metre race, in the process brushing aside two competitors from Germany and France.
Athletes who compete at the London event take part on invitation only. Benson was the only athlete invited to represent Namibia at this major event.
