WINDHOEK – Paulus Mweshi Petrus (32) one of the ‘struggle kids’ was yesterday granted bail of N$500 in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting a female comrade who refused to have sex with him.

Petrus faces a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Petrus allegedly assaulted Frieda Mokhana on 31 July by pummelling her with his fists in the face, chest and abdomen with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm at the Okahandja Park informal settlement outside Windhoek where the group of ‘struggle kids” are shacking up in makeshift accommodation. Petrus was arrested on 1 August.

According sources Mokhana refused to have intercourse with Petrus, or even to allow him to touch her private parts, resulting in the assault. The matter was remanded to 12 May, 2014.

Magistrate George Mbundu presided, while Anthony Wilson appeared for the State.
