The ‘Balance’ hitmaker, Sunday Shipushu, better known as Sunny Boy, is hosting a birthday bash at Chicago’s Bar and Restaurant tomorrow.
Playing a dual function, the celebration is also part of a listening session for his new album, titled the ‘Kingdom of Yaziza’.
“This birthday is massive; it is another milestone in my life. I am reaching a different level that people call ‘the fourth floor’, which represents growth and maturity in the way I handle things in general and the way I produce my music,” he told VIBEZ! proudly.
He will perform six tracks of the album on the night. Maestro, Dark Vapor, Zen Skrypt, and Mabuzza will also be in action.
Sunny Boy said he chose Chicago’s Bar and Restaurant because it’s “hip and happening”.
“I love the atmosphere because when people come there, the energy that transpires around the place is beautiful, and the place is safe.”
Sunny Boy said this album is very special and powerful, hence the title, which makes a statement for itself: “it resembles me in my zone – doing what I love and doing things differently”.
“I am being me, and I am telling you how I feel concerning money, politics, love and the current situation in the world,” he stated.
The gathering will allow fans a moment of interaction with him regarding either a particular song or the whole album – and they are free to share their opinions with him at the event.
He said the listening sessions were also inspired by how the popular American artist Kanye West was pushing his album ‘Donda’ before it was launched.
Sunny Boy said his first listening session last year was a great success, and they are looking forward to hosting more events in different places and towns.
He believes the industry can only grow if established artists take up the young upcoming ones and put them on the pedestal so they can shine and integrate their new ideas and energy.
“If we keep on putting our young ones down and shining alone, the industry will die.”
