Super 10 league returns after long break

Super 10 league returns after long break

After almost a month of inactivity, the Khomas Netball League, better known as the Khomas Super 10, will return this weekend with a line-up of exciting fixtures.

The league last saw games in May due to long holidays and other reasons.

This weekend, the league resumes with matches slated for Khomasdal Stadium and Patrick Iyambo Police College in Windhoek.

Nine matches will be played in the Super 10 division, while nine more matches will be played across both the First and Second divisions.

Action will commence today at the Khomasdal netball courts, where NUST A will take on NDF Windhoek at 18h00.

At 19h00, Afrocat Lions will square off against Namibia Correctional Service (NCS) in a highly anticipated match.

In a brief interview, Isadore Nell, the league representative, expressed excitement about the league’s return.

“I am glad we are back this weekend. It’s been a long break, which I believe was needed for the teams to ensure they got back in shape. They had enough time to rest. As we return, we expect to witness exciting netball on display. Now that the holiday has begun for some of our school-going league players, we expect them to put their focus on the court,” she said.

On Saturday, action will continue in the Super 10. Fixtures include Golden Girls facing off against UNAM Jagua at 08h00, followed by a tie between Go Monate Fella and Wanderers at 09h20.

Tigers will take on NUST A at 10h40, before Afrocat Lions take to the court to face a formidable NDF Windhoek side at 12h00.

At 13h30, NCS will take on United in another exciting encounter, while Golden Girls will square off against NUST A at 14h40.

Wrapping up the matches in the Super 10 will be a tie between Tigers and Wanderers at 16h00.

In an interview yesterday regarding their readiness, Dimitri Bittler, who is part of Afrocat, said his team received ample time to rest.

They are poised to make a statement this weekend.

“I am happy that we can all return to what we love doing. We had a long break in the league. This serves as the right time to return. Our team has prepared well. I believe we are poised for a good return over the weekend,” he said.
