WINDHOEK – The Soccer Academy of the Ramblers Club held its annual year-end function in Windhoek recently.
In a relaxed atmosphere, children and parents came together on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the awards ceremony and subsequent “bring and braai”. The 6th year of the Ramblers Soccer Academy can be seen overall as a success, notably in view of the collection of trophies at the five tourneys held in Windhoek, Otjiwarongo and Swakopmund.
Out of 28 possible trophies in the various age groups, Ramblers Academy claimed 10 victories and finished runner-up on eight occasions while claiming five bronze medals, indeed an astonishing achievement which made both the children and parents proud.
The Under 9 A team was “the team of the year” without any doubt. The team under the guidance of coaches Allesandro Micheletti and Russell Parker won every one of the five tournaments and had to play second fiddle only in the league to overall winners Swallows FC.
In the NFA Khomas League, all the teams were serious title contenders until the end but the composure was missing on the final match day. At the awards ceremony, all the players in the Under 7 and Under 9 age groups as well as the Under 11 C received certificates of merit from their respective coaches.
Chairman of Ramblers Club, Ralf Behrens, expressed his appreciation to the coaching staff and commended all their efforts and input, saying without their commitment, the success would not have been possible.
Unfortunately, the sponsorship of Namibia Dairies and their product Nammilk came to an end leaving the Academy without a sponsor for the coming year. Coaching sessions for the 2014 season start in the first week of February next year.
