WINDHOEK – The number of suspects, who stand accused of stealing over N$1 million from G4S Security Company over the long Easter weekend, now stands at three.
Stefanus Shirwenge appeared briefly in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court last week, while Kaprika Cosmos Mukanda appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on April 13.
Shirwenge’s matter was transferred to Windhoek.
Prosecutor Ivann Tjizu informed Magistrate Kauli Nghishitende on Friday that the names of Shirwenge and Ndembere will now be added to the charge sheet.
Their rights to legal representation was explained to them and they said they will apply for legal aid.
The matter will continue on July 31 when all three will return to the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court.
On April 13, Mukanda informed the court he would conduct his own defence. He had head injuries and informed the court the police threw him out of the car.
All three were denied bail.
The three were nabbed after they allegedly stole more than N$1 million they collected from different Game shops around Windhoek over the Easter holiday.
New Era learned that one of the accused allegedly bought a “Dankie Botswana”, an import Corollora, while another was giving people N$50.
The vehicle that Shirwenge bought with the money was allegedly recovered, as well as N$535 000.
The money was allegedly in his parents’ possession. The men allegedly collected the money from different Game outlets in Windhoek. They allegedly proceeded to pay N$500 000 into the bank and stole the rest, which amounted to more than N$1 million.
