Suspected defiler denied bail

Home Crime and Courts Suspected defiler denied bail

Windhoek

A suspect in a harrowing rape case was denied bail last week in the Kuisebmund Magistrate’s Court in Walvis Bay after he was charged with defiling a minor.

Jesaya Nghihangwa, 29, allegedly raped a nine-year old girl in her room. He reportedly gave her N$2 afterwards and told her not to tell her mother, but the girl reported the incident to her mother whereafter he was arrested.

Nghihangwa appeared in the Kuisebmund Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and was denied bail by Magistrate John Sindano. The victim’s mother objected stringently to Nghihangwa being granted bail.

The matter was remanded to August 19 for further police investigation.
