RUNDU – The Swapo Youth League in Mukwe district elected new members with Thiyemo Stanislaus as the secretary, Dikuwa Aplonia as the mobilizer and Muronga Erastus as the treasurer for the district.
“Our Mukwe district structure had a problem and so we decided to restructure it in order to work well,” said Peter Kashumali, regional secretary for information, publicity and mobilization for Kavango East. The elections took place at Mukwe on the day the party celebrated its founding anniversary on April 19.
“Nominations were started at the branch levels. Then we called all branches for a district conference and out of all 62 branches on a Swapo Party level, 37 branches reported and sent six delegates to represent them,” Kashumali said.
He said the elections were done “to make sure that we have a youth league leadership at Mukwe district as our position as a ruling party starts from sections and this was also done to ensure that work is in progress at all levels.
“All levels must have leaders not because of the coming elections but because our party is not seasonal but we operate throughout.”
