WINDHOEK– Strong Women in Progress (SWIP), a girls club, in collaboration with the United States (US) Peace Corps, Sister Namibia magazine and Warehouse Theatre present the Moving Minds benefits concert tomorrow at Warehouse Theatre.
Using the power of music the benefit concert aims to raise awareness on issues of gender discrimination and violence among the youths. The show will feature local bands such as Penilane, Famaz Attak and The Fate of Miss H. According to the facilitator of SWIP girls club, Frankie Ndumba, the club’s goals are the same with those of the US Peace Corps in helping people of various countries in meeting their need for trained men and women, and promoting gender equality, world peace and friendship. “The girls are given the opportunity to see themselves as leaders by using a variety of approaches via presentation, activities, dramas clinic and volunteer visits and service learning techniques in order to empower, educate, and elevate their fellow peers,” says Ndumba.
Tickets are N$50 in advance each and are available from Warehouse Theatre and N$60 at the door. Doors open at 19H00.
