The Swakara Board of Namibia on Friday hosted an Information Day at the Pelt Centre to share information about its function, as well as Agra’s role as sole marketing agent of Swakara pelts. The karakul pelts are auctioned bi-annually at the April and September Kopenhagen Fur auction in Denmark. Farmers deliver pelts throughout the year to Agra’s Pelt Centre, where the pelts are sorted, graded and shipped to the auction house in Denmark. The next auction will take place on September 10. Models are seen here dressed in Swakara garments designed and produced by Namibian producers, while holding raw Swakara pelts.
