WINDHOEK – Mattheas Mehlstaubler, 29, a German teacher who allegedly assaulted a 10-year-old learner between September and November was denied bail when he appeared in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court.

Mehlstaubler teaches at the Agricultural College, a private school in Grootfontein,

Between September and November this year, Mehlstaubler allegedly assaulted the learner by holding her against the wall with a knife in the one hand, Otjozondjupa Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Mbeha, informed New Era on Wednesday.

He was denied bail and the matter was remanded to December 18.

Mehlstaubler faces charges of sexual harassment and assault by threat.

The Agricultural College is a combined school.
