William J. Mbangula OSHAKATI Nantu President Ndapewa Nghipandulwa has urged teachers to develop analytical skills in order to become agents of change for the country. Speaking at the first ever Nantu initiated debating society at Iipumbu Secondary School over the weekend, Nghipandulwa lauded the Nantu branch in Oshana for coming up with the idea of a debating society which will help teachers improve their communication and analytical skills. “As teachers, you have a responsibility to redirect the nation towards sustainable economic and intellectual development. You need to know better than anybody else. You should create a strong foundation on which to build the nation’s future.” She advised the teachers to remain steadfast and principled in whatever they do because if they are weak, they can be swept away easily. “We should remember that whatever we are doing as teachers, it is all politics. We are all political animals. Don’t be discouraged by some people who may say you are involving politics.” The debate was initiated by Nantu under the sponsorship of NedLoans to help teachers improve their communication skills in English. ” We have detected during interviews that many teachers need to improve their communication skills in English. It is for this reason that we came up with this idea,” said Victor Hamunyela, Nantu regional administrator. NedLoans provided N$7 000 for the staging of the event. The occasion was also attended by the teachers union’s general secretary Mirjam Hamutenya.
