Namibia’s Beresford Teaghan is part of Rosatom’s sixth international Arctic expedition “Icebreaker of Knowledge”, which set sail from Murmansk on 13 August.
The expedition commemorates the 80th anniversary of Russia’s nuclear industry and the 500th anniversary of the start of the Northern Sea Route development.
It is scheduled to reach the North Pole on 17 August and return to Murmansk on 22 August.
“My first impression of Russia is that it is beautiful and so different from any place I have seen before, and the landscape is very peaceful,” said Teaghan.
Part of the expedition will be a scientific and educational programme with international experts in the field of atomic and space technologies, scientists, and popularisers of science.
