Team Erongo gets over N$100 000 for Newspaper Cup

Rössing Uranium yesterday announced a sponsorship of over N$100 000 toward the Erongo region’s football and netball teams’ participation in the upcoming Newspaper Cup, slated for Otjiwarongo this Easter holidays.

Rössing Uranium’s employee relations manager Kondja Kaulinge handed over the sponsorship to Erongo governor Neville Andre during the team’s send-off event in Swakopmund yesterday.

He said Rössing Uranium is committed to making contributions to sports and promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, an effort that is evident through the company’s commitment to hosting the annual national marathon.

“Today is about the youth of our mighty Erongo region, who will be flying our flag high in Otjiwarongo at the annual Newspaper Cup. Team Erongo, as you embark on this journey to go and compete fearlessly, I am confident that the spirit of sportsmanship will lead the team in competing for the top prize and ultimately bringing the cups home,” he said.

Kaulinge applauded the governor’s office for promoting healthy living habits and community wellness.

“We are pleased to contribute towards the development of youth in sport in our region.”

The donation caters to the team’s football and netball kits, training kits, tracksuits and accommodation.

Also speaking at the same occasion, Andre thanked Rössing Uranium for coming on board and being the team’s main sponsorship.
