WINDHOEK – A 17-year-old schoolgirl is under police guard in Opuwo State Hospital after she allegedly induced an abortion by drinking Oro-Crush.

The induced abortion took place last week on Thursday at about 02h00 at Okwangati location in Opuwo.
According to the weekend crime report the suspect drank Oro-Crush and went to school where she informed her friends who gave her more to drink.

During the early morning hours she allegedly started to experience excruciating pain in her stomach and went to wake up her mother who was unaware of the pregnancy, but who then realised she was pregnant as the foetus came out and could be identified as that of a baby boy.

The suspect who was bleeding profusely was rushed to the Opuwo hospital where she was admitted in a serious but stable condition.

She will be charged once she is released from hospital.
