A 17-year-old boy is expected to appear in court this week after he was arrested for allegedly raping a 56-year-old woman at Iikekele village on Friday evening.
According to the Namibian Police’s weekend crime report, the suspect allegedly molested the victim while she was on her way home.
“It is alleged that the suspect, who was wearing a facemask, grabbed the victim around her neck and pushed her down to the ground. He then undressed the victim and raped her,” said the police.
The police added that the victim was reportedly rescued by neighbours who heard her scream.
The suspect managed to escape, but his escape was short-lived since the police apprehended him on Saturday, after he was found with the victim’s handbag.
Meanwhile at Gobabis, between 6 and 7 August 2022, time unknown, at or near UB 40 Bar, Epako settlement, it is alleged that the lifeless body of Johannes Mutirua, a 30-year-old Namibian man was discovered by members of the public. It is further alleged that the deceased was stabbed with an unknown sharp object, the next of kin were informed, and no arrest was made. At Outjo on Friday, between 01h00 and 02h00, at Herero location, it is alleged that a suspect stabbed a man with a knife on his chest, hand and right side above the thigh, after the victim allegedly refused to hand over his five litre box of wine. The suspect was arrested.
In Katutura, on 7 August 2022, at about 00h50 in Independence Avenue, Central Shops Katutura, it is alleged that 23-year-old Frans Fredericks Haxmund, succumbed to wounds, at Katutura State Hospital, after he was stabbed with an unknown sharp object under his right arm. No arrest was made.
At Okahao, attempted murder was reported on Friday at about 21h00 at Okamwandi location, Eendombe village. It is alleged the suspect stabbed the victim, a 19-year-old Namibian male, with a knife once in the stomach and sustained a serious injury. No arrest was made either.
In Outapi on Friday at around 19h00, at Okakutu location, Ohamwala village, a mob of community members allegedly beat a 38-year-old man with stones, sticks on the head and jaw, which caused the victim to sustain open wounds on his head and broken teeth. No arrests were made.
In Otjomuise, the police recorded a case of concealment of birth on Friday at about 08h15 at Ottawa Street municipal skip container. It is alleged that the body of a baby, wrapped in a black plastic bag, was discovered in the municipal bin. No arrest was made.
