… Dream fight in two weeks
WINDHOEK – After waltzing past Hungarian boxer Zoltan Kiss Jr via a 2nd round technical knockout about four months ago, Namibia’s former two-time world champion Harry ‘The Terminator’ Simon will soon be back in the ring to do what he does best and Serbian pugilist Geard Ajetovic is next on his long list of casualties.
Simon, who is determined to redeem himself and make a quick return to the pinnacle of his once burnishing boxing career, will tussle it out with Ajetovic for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) international light heavyweight title slated for the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on September 28.
The former Namibian World Boxing Association (WBA) light middleweight and middleweight champion still boasts an impressive record of 28 wins from 28 fights since joining the professional ranks, while his Serbian opponent boasts 23 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw from 32 fights.
Speaking at the launch of ‘The Dream Fight’ boxing bonanza, which will be headlined by Telecom Namibia and TN Mobile as the event’s main sponsors, Simon’s spokesperson Anita Tjombe said Harry is still in South Africa preparing and training hard for his upcoming fight and would only arrive home next week Thursday, while his opponent is expected to touch down on Namibian soil by Monday next week.
Crowed favourite and show-stopper Gotlieb Ndokosho will also be gracing the ring with his deadly combinations and power punches when he defends his IBF continental Africa featherweight title against Feliciano Dario Azuaga from Paraguay over 12 rounds. Ndokosho’s impressive CV of 14 wins and 3 losses from 17 fights is up for comparison with Azuaga’s astonishing, but somewhat questionable record of 84 wins, 22 losses and 2 draws from 110 fights.
Also in the mix of things on that night will be Eradius ‘Pohamba’ Hamunyela who takes on one of South Africa’s top rated boxers Phillip ‘Time Bomb’ Ndou, a man who once fought the world’s highest paid boxer Floyd Mayweather and lost in the 7th round after a gallant showing. It is expected to be a heated affair between the two boxers, but many boxing pundits are doubting Hamunyela’s calibre, given Ndou’s immense experience and the type of opponents he has fought before.
