Rains received in some parts of the country have brought relief to many people who have endured soaring temperatures over the past few weeks.

Temperatures ranging between 34 and 37 degrees Celsius have been recorded in the Karas, Caprivi, and Oshikoto regions.

Weather forecaster, Jennifer Moeti, yesterday said the rainy season has started and will end in April next year.

On Saturday, Katutura received the 13.5 millilitres while other areas received lighter rains ranging between 0.2 ml and 0.6 ml in Gobabis.

On Sunday, the Hosea Kutako International Airport recorded 5.8 ml, Gobabis 0.8 ml, Ondangwa 0.6 ml and Grootfontein 0.5 ml while Eehnana recorded 0.2 ml.

The outlook for October to December indicates normal to above normal rainfall over the entire country.

The forecast for the main part of the rainy season – January to March 2008 – indicates normal rainfall over the northern half of the country and normal to above normal over the southern half of Namibia.
