WINDHOEK– The National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) in partnership with The Namibia Film Commission and the Film Association of Namibia (FAN) will be introducing the nominees for the 2014 Namibia Theatre and Film Awards, this morning at NTN Foyer.
The Awards that recognises, celebrates and honours the work of local theatre practitioners, film producers and those who support the development of the performing arts is set to take place on October 25. NTN Public Relation Officer Desiree Mentor, says the Award Ceremony is the only platform currently available in the country recognising and awarding film and theatre practitioners, as ell as institutions and sponsors for their role in the development of theatre and film in Namibia.
This year’s Award, the third edition of the bi-annual event after 2010 and 2012, in which The 3 1/2Lives of Philip Wetu and Try were the films judged the best for the two respective years, will be held during a Gala evening at the NTN. The categories due for recognition are: Best Film, Best Short Film, Best Documentary, Best Music Video, Best Actor and Actress, Best Director, Best Screenwriter, Best Editor, Best Composer, Best Sound Designer, Best Production Designer and Audience Choice.
Anybody that shot a short film, feature and documentary of any length or music video was submit her/his work. All eligible films were screened as part of the Namibia Film Week end of September. The audience at these screenings determine the Winner of the Audience Choice Award. This honour went to the films CamelThorns and 100 Bucks in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
