Acting Regional Commander for Kunene Region, Inspector Petrus Shigwedha has called on residents and citizens to assist the police in tracing unknown suspect(s) who broke into the Khorixas Pep Store and made away with cash amounting to N$58 126.60. The incident happened early Monday morning.

This amount, Inspector Shigwedha outlined, is one of the biggest amounts to be recently stolen on spot.

The police in their daily crime report said that the suspect(s) broke the padlock of the door with a hammer to gain entrance and managed to break the safe, where the large sum was kept.

The suspects(s) also removed seven cellular phones of different types valued at N$3 643 from the same outlet.

No arrest has so far been made and police investigations continue.

In other separate incidents, a death report was brought to the attention of the Namibian police when a 50-year-old male resident of the region from Okahuapehuri village within the radius of the Opuwo area passed away at his residence at an unknown time.

The police reports that information revealed was that he was found dead in his room on Monday morning.

The police further points out that no foul play is suspected.

The body was taken to the Opuwo State Hospital mortuary.

“It (body) is ready for postmortem examination. The next of kin have been informed,” reveals the police.
