Three missing persons’ bodies discovered in Erongo

Three missing persons’ bodies discovered in Erongo

The police in the Erongo region are investigating the deaths of three people,  whose bodies were discovered in separate locations after they were reported missing last year.

The incidents, classified as unnatural deaths, occurred at Tubusis, Otjimbingwe and Okombahe.

Erongo police spokesperson Ileni Shapumba on Wednesday said the decomposed body of an unidentified man, believed to be in his late 40s, was discovered at Farm Tubusis Pos 2 on 18 January.

The body was discovered by a herder, who immediately alerted authorities.

Police said the man, who is yet to be identified, wore green shorts without a  shirt or shoes.

Authorities estimate that he died over a month ago.

“Efforts to locate the deceased’s family have been unsuccessful so far,” Shapumba said. A week later, on 25 January, a farm owner discovered human remains, including a backbone, ribs and skull on the outskirts  of Otjimbingwe while searching for his  cattle. Police authorities were dispatched to the scene.

They confirmed that the remains belonged to Katrina Paulina Booi, who was reported missing on 10 August 2024.

A family member identified the remains, but forensic investigations will be conducted for confirmation.

On 28 January, a resident of Farm Okatjio in the Okombahe area discovered the decomposed body of Andries Oaeb, a 34-year-old man who had been reported missing on 25 December 2024.  The body was found in a field on the farm.

Authorities said no foul play is suspected at this stage.  However, a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Oaeb’s next of kin have been informed.

Investigations are ongoing.

The police urged anyone with information regarding these cases to contact them.
