…league action resumes
WINDHOEK – With an inlet of nine points separating MTC Premier League log leaders Tigers from league minors Tura Magic – tonight’s crucial clash between the two teams promises plenty of fireworks and could go a long way in defining the league title aspirations of Tigers.
Tigers, who are heading the log with 20-points from 9 matches played, go into the tie at the Sam Nujoma Stadium as favourites, that’s if their impressive form of late is anything to go by, while the Magicians, as Tura Magic is affectionately known, are currently marooned in 8th position on the log standings with 11-points from 9 games thus far and just a mere two places away from the relegation zone.
Although Tigers have already confirmed their title aspirations with their impressive run that has seen them losing only one match since the beginning of the season, coach Bobby Samaria and his trusted soldiers are very much aware that defeat against the ambitious Tura Magic could all but defuse their title pretensions. However, Tura Magic who were recently hit by speculations linking their talismanic captain Neville Tjiueza with a move to Katutura giants African Stars, will also go into tonight’s clash knowing very well a victory will boost their chances of finishing the current term mid-table and also provide a new impetus to their recent upsurge in form.
In coming action, 2nd and 3rd placed African Stars and Black Africa will lock horns in a potential title decider in the only match to be played on Friday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, while FNB Orlando Pirates square off against league tyros PC Blue Boys at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday. Still at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, Civics confront coastal outfit Blue Waters in what promises to be a thrilling encounter between the two outfits. At the coast, struggling Eleven Arrows will be looking for some redemption when they welcome United Stars at the Kuisebmund Stadium in Walvis Bay on Saturday, while Rundu Chiefs are at home against visiting Ramblers at the Rundu Sports Stadium also on Saturday.
