Stakeholder engagements are a communication imperative to ensure involvement and participation to allow stakeholders to form part of consultations, and in turn inform required decisions and solutions. In pursuit of this lofty goal, the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade, through the Directorate of Commerce, continues to conduct nationwide engagements with relevant stakeholders.

The aim of the engagements is to inform, educate and communicate the critical subjects of administering the Liquor Act, Act no 6 of 1998, the recently-launched National Consumer Protection Policy as well as the Consumer Protection Bill, together with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Facilitation Bill (NIPFB). The ministry is soon taking the public stakeholders’ consultations to the northern and western regions, namely Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Omusati and Oshana and Erongo.  On 10 and 11 October, Minister of Industrialisation and Trade Lucia Iipumbu and a ministerial delegation will be in Oshakati (Oshana region) as a central point covering those ‘O’ regions. Thereafter, on 20 and 21 October, Iipumbu and her team are scheduled to be at the coastal town of Walvis Bay to focus on the entire Erongo region. The public, business community and interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend. At Oshakati, the venue is the Leo Shoopala Community Hall while the meeting place at Walvis Bay is yet to be confirmed. The starting time remains constant at both events, commencing at
09h00.
