Free Your Mind stand-up comedy ended this year’s calendar with an awards ceremony at the Warehouse Theatre last week Thursday.

Sibongile Tshabalala was once again voted as the Comic of the Year. An excited audience shouted ‘she is the best’ and ‘the queen of comedy’.

When accepting the award Tshabalala said more good things are to come. “It’s going to be the ladies’ year next year.”
Kris with a K was the Best Newcomer, and the Gwara of the Year award went to Martha Mukaiwa, while KOI Church walked away with the Chill Spot of the Year. The youth have flocked to the venue this year.

The Bolster Restaurant received the ‘Tsotsi of the Year’ award as the place that sells mopane worms for N$150, while people can get them for free in the north.

Some of the highlights of the year have been the Trey Song show, Boys II Men and Gazza’s releasing the Kunakweni video featuring Davido, a day after The Dogg’s wedding, claiming to have waited for the perfect time to do so.
