An intelligence-driven investigation by the police culminated in the rearrest yesterday morning in Windhoek of two dangerous fugitives who had escaped from the Gobabis Police Station holding cells.

Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said police rearrested Bernardus Kariseb and Essegiel Vos in Otjomuise and 7de Laan, respectively.

Kariseb, 36, faces two charges of housebreaking and theft, and theft of a motor vehicle. Vos was initially arrested for rape.

The police last week requested the public’s assistance in tracing three dangerous fugitives who had escaped from the Gobabis holding cells last week Tuesday.

The other escapee Hermanus Goagoseb, 36, handed himself over to the police on Monday. Goagoseb faces charges of housebreaking and theft, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Shikwambi thanked the media for their assistance in having the escapees rearrested. “You are indeed our mouthpiece. We commend you for that.”
