ONGWEDIVA – Two murder cases were recorded in Ohangwena region on Monday following two stabbing incidents in Ongenga and Ondobe constituencies.
In the first incident, a 19-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death at Eenghoshi village in Ongenga constituency on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at the deceased’s aunt’s homestead. The deceased and the 21-year-old suspect were allegedly involved in a scuffle when the stabbing took place.
“The two were allegedly fighting over a solar charger when the suspect stabbed the deceased,” said the Ohangwena regional commander, Commissioner Elizabeth Mukete-Sibolile. Mukete-Sibolile said the deceased had allegedly overpowered the suspect and the suspect drew a knife and stabbed the deceased in the chest.

The suspect has been arrested and was expected to appear in court on Thursday.
In the second incident, a 38-year-old man succumbed to injuries at the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital after he was stabbed at Oilyakeko in Ondobe constituency.

The man was allegedly stabbed once in the rib and twice on the left shoulder, Mukete-Sibolile said. A 24-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday morning and is expected to appear in court on Thursday. According to Mukete-Sibolile, the suspect and his acquaintance went to shebeens at Oilyateko on Monday evening.

Upon arrival there, they allegedly joined five other men. “Somewhere during their discussion the suspect and his acquaintance started running and the deceased and another man chased after the two,” said Mukete-Sibolile.
The discussion that that led the two to flee has not been established.
The deceased allegedly caught up with the suspect and the suspect stabbed the deceased.
The deceased was taken to Eenhana police station and was later transferred to Oshakati Intermediate Hospital where he died.

Meanwhile, the police in Ohangwena region are investigating a case of culpable homicide following an accident at Oshiweda in the Eenhana-Ondobe area.
The deceased who was alone in the car was allegedly thrown out of the vehicle and the vehicle landed on him.
