Ueitele: Legare recovery progressing well

Ueitele: Legare recovery progressing well

Zebaldt Ngaruka

OZOMBOUVAPA – The spokesperson of the Gobabis Municipality Frederick Takulu Ueitele has stated that the recovery process of the Legare Sport Fields is progressing smoothly.

Ueitele shared that Field B at the complex is already hosting football matches for the Namport Omaheke second division games.

However, Field A is not yet fully ready for use, with some final adjustments still being made by the parks and gardens’ team.

“Of course, we will announce once we are satisfied with the condition of the A field pitch. The bottom line is that Field B is ready. But, Field A is not yet at 100%,” he said.

The spokesperson noted that the athletics track on Field A is now functional. Nossobville Primary School held an event there on the weekend of 31 January.  Field B is now available for both football and athletics events.

Ueitele reported that stakeholders are pleased with the condition of the fields.  The improvements are clear, compared to the state of the pitches before closure.

“We haven’t received any complaints from stakeholders. They are happy with the condition of the fields they are using. It will soon reach its best stage,” he said.

A positive development is that no football matches in the second or third divisions have been impacted since the complex’s closure.

“The only issue is that there is no pavilion on Field B. That is something that needs to be addressed,” he added.

Additionally, the spokesperson urged stakeholders to adhere to the rules in place to ensure the complex remains in good condition.

“Littering will not be tolerated, nor will damage to the property at the complex. We must preserve it properly,” he said.

Ueitele stressed that thorough inspections will be conducted after each use of the complex to determine the refund of deposit payments.

“Our goal is to maintain the complex at the highest standard at all times,” he said.

The largest sport complex in the Omaheke region was closed in November last year for recovery.
