Debmarine Premiership returns this weekend

Debmarine Premiership returns this weekend

After taking a break due to cup competitions, the top-flight men’s football league, the Debmarine Premiership, returns this weekend with a number of exciting fixtures lined up for tomorrow and Sunday in various parts of the country.

Action will commence tomorrow afternoon, when Chula Chula takes on African Stars at the Independence Stadium in Oshakati. Stars are currently in third place with 15 points from eight matches played so far. Fresh from their MTC Maris Cup win, they will be hoping to continue the momentum against their bitter rivals.

Meanwhile, Chula Chula, who play host this weekend, find themselves in ninth place with a total of 11 points. Last weekend, they were eliminated from the MTC Maris Cup, which was a huge heartbreak for them.

However, playing at home, they will be hoping to redeem themselves when they take on the defending champions, who go into this encounter without a coach after Ronnie Kanalelo parted ways with the club this week.

In other matches tomorrow, also at the Independence Stadium in Oshakati, KK Palace will host Young African in a tie scheduled for 14h00. Young Brazilians will host Mighty Gunners at J. Stephanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop, with the match set to start at 15h00.

In Windhoek at Unam Stadium, log leaders Khomas Nampol will be out to maintain their fine form when they play Okahandja United at 15h00. Nampol coach Fortune Eichab said the match is crucial, but they have to be themselves.

“Losing in the cup competition was disappointing but that’s football. Its another chance for us to revive ourselves and get back to winning ways,” he said.

At the coast, Blue Boys will welcome Bucs Buccaneers at Kuisebmund Stadium in a tie to kick off at 14h00, before Blue Waters square off against Unam at 17h00.

In Rundu, struggling Cuca Tops will be hoping to end their losing streak as they face FC Ongos, the team that eliminated them from the MTC Maris Cup. Their tie is set to start at 14h00, before Julinho Athletic take on Tigers.

On Sunday, Chula Chula will face Young African at 14h00 at Oshakati Independence Stadium, before African Stars and KK Palace lock horns at 17h00.
