The Namibian Under-19 beach volleyball teams for boys and girls leave for Cyprus this weekend to participate in the Under-19 World Championships.

The team received a timely boost ahead of its departure in the shape of a much needed financial contribution of N$20 000 from DTS Sports Club.

All four athletes and coach James Verrinder were training at the DTS sports grounds, where the quartet started their beach volleyball careers just like most local beach volleyballers.

“DTS Executive has always in the past years given financial assistance to our valued members, whenever they have received national colours for qualifying to represent their country of birth in high-profile international events,” said a delighted DTS PRO Heiko Kesselmann during the cheque handover ceremony in Windhoek earlier this week.

“We are extremely proud to have these high-profile athletes among our members,” he added.

As a result of insufficient financial support from the National Sports Commission (NSC) Verrinder and his young team have in the past four weeks been burning the midnight oil to solicit financial support for the tour. The following companies made their dream possible: Olympia Pharmacy, Retirement Fund Solutions, SCE Consulting Engineers, Word Press Namibia, Electro Repairs, Obeco, Office & Maling Automation, Fabupharm, Stein Service Station, Transworld Tours & Travel, Con Serv Engineering, Zimmermanns Garage, VK Workshop, Global Parts Namibia, Pedaco Engineering, Dorle Verrinder – registered dietician, Timeout Beach Volleyball Academy and FX Fitness
