WINDHOEK – At the beginning of the New Year many people made resolutions, such as saving more money and managing finances better.
Not everybody is serious about the resolutions, but nevertheless, to help achieve financial goals for the year, Bank Windhoek advises that customers understand banking fees to avoid unnecessary charges and penalties.
The introduction of cheaper, affordable and accessible banking products and services, such as internet and cellphone banking, can help many people save money to realise their financial goals for the year.
Understanding banking costs, including choosing the right banking transaction, can help save money in the long-term. The decision lies solely with with the customer.
Customers can request a brochure of the banking fees and charges of Bank Windhoek at any of the 54 branches and agencies. A notice, in the form of a poster, is also displayed in the branches and agencies, indicating the annual fees and charges. The current fees and charges are only valid until June 30, 2015 as a new fee structure will be introduced on July 01, 2015.
Some tips to help reduce banking costs include: Registering for internet and cellphone banking, as they are far more cost-effective than over-the-counter banking transactions and also more convenient. Withdraw money at an ATMs as it is cheaper than withdrawing in the branch. Use a Bank Windhoek ATM to avoid paying Namswitch fees applicable when using another Bank’s ATM. Open an account that suits your needs. Avoid additional charges by ensuring that you have sufficient funds in your account when issuing a cheque and for your monthly stop and debit order to go through. Look after your cards to avoid unnecessary replacement fees for lost or stolen cards.
Avoid depositing post-dated cheques as you will be charged a fee for every post-dated cheque deposited. Clients are advised to have all their day-to-day accounts at one bank to avoid paying service fees at multiple banks.
