The Namibian Football Association has finally cleared the uncertainty over the mysterious absence of the Brave Warriors’ speedy winger Sadney Urikhob.

The former Civics man who now plies his trade in Thailand last played for his native land in the 2-1 win over Zambia in the 2017 African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifier. He has been ruled out of action for three months after he sustained a career threatening knee injury, while playing for his Thai Super League outfit Saraburi FC.
Relating his ordeal to the nfaorg website from Thailand, Uri-Khob revealed the cause of his grounding from competitive football.

“It all went bad when I was roughed by a defender, leaving me out of action for three weeks. But coming back feeling strong, I played for 60 minutes on my return and scored a goal, but things went awry in the next match. I twisted my left knee and was out for another three weeks.”

He eventually went under the knife and his condition improved significantly, much quicker than the expected three months. The striker could resume training in six weeks’ time.

“The medical staff were actually surprised by my speedy recovery because it healed faster that the prescribed recovery period of three months.

“I’m not going to rush back because knee ailments are very sensitive and need proper healing.”
Prior to his unfortunate injury, the Namibian scored three goals in five games. “I wish I was available for selection but nevertheless I wish the boys all the best of luck in the upcoming game,” says Uri-Khob.

He believes the team possesses the required quality and desire to win. “With the home crowd backing, I strongly believe they can do us proud on Thursday,” said Urikhob who was a squad member of the victorious Brave Warriors side in the Regional COSAFA Cup earlier this year.
