Japhet Uutoni travels to Limpopo, South Africa to confront Bongani Silila for the vacant World Boxing Organisation (WBO) international junior flyweight title on the 29th of this month.
Uutoni is the most successful amateur boxer while Bongani is the incumbent South African champion in this particular division.
Known as the “Namibian Lion”, Uutoni goes into this fight with an impressive record of 11 fights, 10 wins and one defeat, while Bongani boasts a record of 21 fights, 15 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws.
The Namibian has promised to make Namibians proud as he goes to South Africa with one aim, and that’s to claim the lucrative title that could set him up for bigger things.
“In boxing, you have three big titles in the following sequence – African champion, international champion and world champion. So we are therefore taking this fight very seriously,” says Uutoni’s handler Nestor Tobias.
