Hedira Tjefelius Kakwena was denied bail when he appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of murder, read with the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act of 2003.
Kakwena was arrested by the police at Satotwa village in Kavango West on Thursday after he allegedly killed his girlfriend, Cuma Ihemba, age not known.
Police were called to the scene after it was reported that the couple was fighting. When the police arrived at the scene they found the woman already dead on the spot. They proceed to arrest the suspect.
Murder suspect Hedira Tjefelius Kakwena, 28, appeared before Magistrate Helen Olaiya. Prosecutor Emma Mayavero represented the State.
The accused was denied bail in the first instance due to the seriousness of the offence and because investigations are at the early stage. However, Kakwena was informed of his right to submit a formal bail application. his case was then remanded to May 24.
