Volleyball action hits Ondangwa this weekend

Ondangwa will be the centre of attraction this weekend when the MTC Volleyball League stages its sixth round of fixtures at the Ondangwa Tennis Court on Saturday.

Over six matches are lined up across both the men’s and women’s divisions, with top clubs from across the country vying for crucial league points. 

Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) president Tobias Mwatelulo confirmed preparations are on track, saying the stage is set for an exciting weekend.

“Preparations are at an advanced stage, and everything is in place for this coming weekend. We have received updates from the teams. They are ready for action. We urge all fans in Ondangwa and surrounding areas to come in numbers and witness top volleyball on display,” he said.

Action in both divisions will start at 09h00. 

In the men’s, division, Unam Hard Hitters open the day against Namibia Police Volleyball, followed by a clash between Namibia Correctional Service and Keetmanshoop Correctional Facility.

Hard Hitters will later return to the court to face Calvary Eagles, while Afrocat Lions square off against Namibia Correctional Service. 

The men’s fixtures wrap up with Namibia Police Volleyball meeting Calvary Eagles.

The women’s division will also feature high-stakes contests. Six Stars Volleyball Club will face Revival in the opening game before Ball Buster take on Kudos. 

Later, Unam Queens will battle Six Stars in what promises to be a lively encounter. 

Ball Buster then return to court against Namibia Police Volleyball, while Revival and Kudos close the day’s action.

League coordinator Albert Khevare said he anticipates another thrilling round. 

“We are excited and fully prepared for this weekend’s matchups. All logistics are in place, and the teams are eager to showcase their talent. The competition has been very tight this season. We expect some thrilling encounters that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. Our main goal is to ensure smooth operations and a professional environment that allows the players to perform at their best while also giving supporters quality volleyball action,” he said.

Revival Volleyball are the current reigning champions in the women’s division. 

Namibia Correctional Service reign in the men’s division after they were named inaugural champions last season.
