As part of its contribution to rural development, WAD has been training local people in the regions. One such graduation of 65 young people in basic computer literacy took place in the Caprivi region recently.
Other areas for which the trainees received certificates were office administration and typing as well as gardening and paper brick production.
Speaking at a recent field day, WAD director, Veronica de Klerk, assured residents of the region of her organisation’s determination to root out unemployment and poverty with the training of 60 other unemployed youth.
She said the training would take place immediately after the field day in the areas of effective project management, small and medium enterprises (SME) bookkeeping as well as catering and nutrition.
Old Mutual and Nedbank sponsored the field day. De Klerk applauded the two for their generous collective sponsorship of five of WAD’s 2008 field days to the tune of N$70??????’??
