WINDHOEK – The police have reported murders, attempted murders and rapes in abundance over this past week.

The latest crime report shows that a robbery with aggravating circumstances was committed at about 22h00 on Saturday, December 13 in Nangula Frans Street in Babylon, Katutura.

It is alleged that three male suspects entered the shebeen and one of them held the 42-year-old female victim at gunpoint, assaulted her and took N$7 000 that was in the shebeen.

After the victim screamed for help, the neighbours came out and the robbers fired two shots in their direction, but luckily no one was hit and the robbers fled the scene.

The suspects are still at large while police investigations continue.

A case of murder was reported after 18-year-old Tuamanovandu Karonda was stabbed to death at about 03h49 on Saturday, December 13 in Vicky Ipinge Street near the Single Quarters.

It is alleged the deceased was stabbed with a sharp object on the right back side and he died on the spot.

The cause of the stabbing is unknown and it is alleged the deceased was ironically recently discharged from hospital for treatment of a stab wound but it is not known whether the two incidents are linked or not.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today.

The next of kin was informed and investigations continue.

A 17-year-old Namibian male will appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of attempted murder.

It is alleged the suspect stabbed a 36-year-old victim with a knife in the backside after an argument and the victim sustained an open wound but fortunately survived.
The incident allegedly happened at a shebeen on Saturday, December 13 at 20h12 and the victim was admitted to the Katutura State Hospital.
Police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old Namibian male was arrested on Friday, December 12 between 11h00 and 12h00 following a tip-off about drug dealing.

According to Sergeant Slogan Matheus, the police upon a tip-off from the public went to the house of the suspect and found four bags containing 400 parcels of cannabis valued at N$321 210.

The lifeless body of a cattle herder was found at Farm ≠Arovlei in the Windhoek area after he went missing for two days.

It is alleged that the herder who may not be named as his next of kin had not yet been informed went into the fields on December 11 but was found with his head in an aardvark burrow the next day at around 18H00.

With him in the burrow was a goat.

The cause of death is not known and will only be determined at an autopsy.

Police investigations continue.

The fairly advanced decomposed body of a man was found in Sinclair Street in Eros, with a bullet wound to the head at about 19h35 on December 11.

The deceased was identified as 25-year old Armas Hambabi and he was dressed in a uniform of Stallion Security.

The next of kin was informed and police investigations continue.

The suspect is expected to make a first appearance in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today and police investigations continue.

A man who fought with his girlfriend hanged himself after she went to lay charges against him at the police station.It is alleged the deceased who was not identified hanged himself with a plastic rope in his room on September 10. According to Matheus, the police found the deceased when they went to arrest him for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
